Gourami fish, sometimes called guard fish, are a family of anabantiform freshwater fish which include the order Diogenidae. These fish are native to India and Pakistan; from Pakistan and India to Southeast Asia and northward toward Korea.
Gourami fish have large mouths with rows of teeth on the upper jaw. Their upper body is long and streamlined, with short, rounded fins and a very narrow mouth with only two rows of teeth on its lower jaw. A unique trait of this fish is the way in which it moves underwater. In the water, the gourami swims horizontally across the bottom of the tank or aquarium. On land, it moves vertically across the land surface.
Gourami fish are carnivores, feeding on mollusks, clams, anchovies and other smaller aquatic creatures. They will not eat meat, but they do feed on other fish. Unlike some other freshwater fish, gouramas have a wide variety of types of food. Some varieties eat small invertebrates, such as plankton, while others will eat small crustaceans, worms and snails. Many other varieties will eat algae and other microorganisms in their natural environment.
Gourami fish are also known as “sea frogs”sea lilies.” They are often found in tropical fish tanks and are sometimes referred to as “sea frogs,” because they closely resemble tropical frogs ปลาสลิด ราคาถูก, although they are usually smaller than the African species. Like other members of their family, gouramis have a short tail and are black, brown, green, orange, red or even blue. Sometimes these fish are striped in color.
Some common names given to gourami include guraraja and gurarajas, which refer to the fact that they resemble or are similar to leopard geckos. Others include gurarayama and gurarayami, which are pronounced “goo-rah-yeh mee.”
Gourami fish make great pets. The young ones are delicate and easy to take care of, and will grow quite large if given proper care.
Water temperatures should never be over seventy degrees Fahrenheit. If you choose to keep your gourami in an aquarium tank with live rock, make sure the rock has been cleaned thoroughly. Rocks in the aquarium can build up a build-up of bacteria and other microorganisms, which can actually kill the fish. An aquarium filter or biological filter should be used to remove these build-ups from the water.
Fish should be regularly inspected for any sign of disease or abnormal growth. A health test kit can be used to determine the levels of bacteria in the water. If bacteria is found, treatment should be performed to remove the problem before it becomes too severe.
The diet of healthy gourami fish is important to their survival. They should receive plenty of fresh, clean water. When choosing food, try to choose low quality foods that are high in protein and calcium to avoid creating a build-up of waste products in the system.
